[24/03/08] Psychedelicatessen off to a flying start

A first for RA - 'Psychedelicatessen' - Rugged Fantasia's new EP sold a dramatic 46 copies on its first night of release at the Soul Cellar last weekend. The show was virtually a sell-out, thanks in part to extensive radio play over the past month or so.

Rugged's two courageous sets saw them journey further into their more introspective tendencies than ever before at the Cellar, whilst old favourites 'Soul Police', 'Chairman Mao' and 'That Girl Blew Down My House' received extensive re-workings. There was even a clip of an old Thunderbirds theme thrown into the mix, and a frankly absurd version of 'Guacamole/Beret' in the encore which featured impromptu jams from TommyEye and Reflex:The Architect.

Rugged will be back again with more shows in the summer.

[12/03/08] RF warming up

Preparations for Rugged's launch show this Friday are in full swing. Rehearsals have given birth to fresh arrangements and new songs, whilst stylists have been scouring the nation's retail outlets in search of suitable costume. The rumour mill which has long been predicting welcome returns to old favourites "Mario" and the elusive "That Girl..." look like they may actually be on the money this time around!

You're not too late to get to the show, just make sure you're there early to avoid queues.

The new, eagerly anticipated follow-up to last year's 'Freedom (Live Recordings)' has been confirmed for release on March 17th. 'Psychedelicatessen', containing Rugged's first studio recordings, will be 6 tracks long and be available to download.

However, there will be an exclusive chance to get your hands on a limited edition CD release of the record at a special launch event at the Soul Cellar, on March 14th!

The gig will be Rugged's first of 2008 and is likely to be a sell out. More details as we get them...
