ABOUT RESIDENT ALIEN
Once upon a time, there was a group of very good friends living in the town of Southampton, on the South Coast of merry old England. One day this group of friends discovered that they were all rather fond of producing fun music under various guises and pseudonyms, and decided that they should get together more often and help each other out.
After many years of playing together in soggy church halls and recording their compositions on creaky minidisc recorders with broken microphones, Resident Alien was convened. Today it is an ever-growing family of happy people, with lots of new-found friends joining in to assist in the primary task of rocking the proverbial party.
What we doResident Alien is a collective of artists, in the very best '60s-inspired peace and love sense of the phrase. Everybody involved has been decent enough to volunteer some of their time to help out everyone else, in the name of getting good music "out there" without being motivated by sales figures and profit margins.
We try to provide our friends with everything they might need to let people hear their (really rather wonderful) sounds. Some of us produce records and do clever things with studio gear. Some of us take pretty pictures and do smart designs for websites and posters. Others of us organise gigs at assorted local establishments. And still others of us sit at our computers, babbling away on websites and other new-fangled electronic outlets, telling of the many pleasures involved in doing the things we do.
Purple Squares StudiosResident Alien is quite frankly dead chuffed to be associated with the guys at Purple Squares Studios: a free recording studio based, like us, in Southampton. If you fancy finding out more about it, or perhaps booking some studio time for yourself, pay a visit to the PSS website. Alternatively, you might like to hear some material from recent sessions on the Studio's MySpace.
Mailing ListIf you'd like to get occasional updates from RA HQ with details of gigs and new releases - plus of course the odd free download - then simply send us an email with "Join" in the subject line. We'll make sure we keep you up to date with everything that's going on here.
